Jack White and Brendan Benson's new band The Raconteurs launched their site today and I have to say the songs are great. The official story goes that White and Benson got together and wrote a song that truly inspired them. This song was "Steady, As She Goes" and the inspiration led to the creation of a full band with the addition of Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler.

Juliana Hatfield - Made in China

The initial reviews I read about Juliana's 2005 album "Made in China" were not that great. They concentrated on bad production and less than stellar song writing that made me think of the few thrown together albums of her past. I have been a fan since the Blake Babies days and I am one of the few who knows that she has an opus in her just waiting to break free.

Well, it is not the amazing work that I have been waiting for, but it is a pretty great album and has some real standout songs. The production reminds me of "Bed," which is my favorite album of hers.

I am posting my two favorite songs off the album:

Going Blonde is a great, quick romp through the world of pop stardumb. I love it!

My Pet Lion reminds me of Anna's pet lion: Roary.

I haven't heard the new Strokes album First Impressions of Earth yet. I was going to buy it on vinyl the week it came out, but the shop I was in wouldn't take a card. Now, I am stuck wanting it on vinyl enough to not buy the CD. I have heard a lot of bad, but the few songs I have listened too sound like The Strokes.

For a few days (we can’t imagine Ryan Adams taking WEEKS), Ryan Adams, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings recorded 13 songs that have since become known as the Destroyer album. Then abruptly, Adams abandoned the sessions and started from scratch with Ethan Johns to record what was to be his solo debut album, Heartbreaker, released in 2000.

I know, I know... As soon as people stop checking out my site I go and update. I can't help it. I get busy with other things and I am away for awhile. I am put to shame by kick ass sites like Corey's Do It Old Maid and I tell myself how bad I suck. Then, someone like She Wants Revenge kicks me in the head and makes me excited again. So I'm back for a little while. I will try to post at least once a week and if anyone cares they can check it out.

I heard She Wants Revenge on a fan video for Battlestar Galactica that I posted for No Blasters and they blew me away. Voice like Interpol, music like Joy Division and Lyrics that make you want to fall in lust or give up everything.

The Dandy Warhols Are Back, Baby!!!

A lot of people I know hated the Dandy's last album "Welcome to the Monkeyhouse," but I loved it. People were so amazed by "13 Tales" that they couldn't come to grips with the direction the band moved into. The new one, "Odditorium or Warlords of Mars" is a mix of the two and every listen brings new jewels to my ears.

What Have They Done Since - Blind Melon = Unified Theory

So, I started looking for what the members of Blind Melon have been doing since Hoon's passing and I found Unified Theory. where was I when this came out. I think I had moved away from Pearl Jam by then. That mine explain me missing it.

Comprised of two ex-Blind Melon members, (bassist Brad Smith and guitarist Christopher Thorn), one ex-Pearl Jam member (drummer Dave Krusen), and newcomer Chris Shinn on vocals/guitar, Unified Theory began to take shape in 1998

Dirty Vegas - Walk into the Sun

I liked the last Dirty Vegas hit "Days go by." I could have done without the constant car commercial, but I love the acoustic version that they had (if I find it I'll post) and the radio edit had a nice euro pop feel.

Now Dirty Vegas is back with their album "One" and I have to say that I love the first single "Walk into the Sun" so much more than "Days go by"

This thing is Rock, catchy, and sing along all rolled into one nice package. Check it out
